Introduction to Storybuilding
Storybuilding is much more effective than just storytelling. Storybuilding allows you to build an experience for your audience, customer or clients. People today are looking for experiences. Make your story one for them.
Here is my 7-step method for Storybuilding.
Write a compelling story.
Don’t think you have one? Trust me you do! We will discover your unique compelling story. We will help you build it into an engrossing, compelling emotional adventure to captivate your audience.
Edit the story for brevity, clarity and impact.
We will do this together. I am a Shakespearean trained actor and I have a love for the language. I’ll help you. We will craft the script of your story to make it an award-winning presentation.
Punch up the funny.
There’s a saying in the speaking business, “Don’t be funny! Unless you want to get paid.” I can’t make you Seinfeld but I can help you find you’re funny to use in your story and help you bring out your best humor for all to experience. Actually, if you have the gift of humor, we will endeavor to make you “Seinfeld!”
Edit for performance.
This is where we begin to breathe life into the story. Editing for performance is very different from editing for reading. You’ll see and feel the difference.
Rewrite and re-edit the story with the performance.
You will improve with every performance until your new found confidence shines through to your audience.
Perform the story.
This is where you will learn to perform your story like a stage actor. At this stage you won’t just learn to tell your story, you’ll learn to “LIVE” your story. You’ll be getting direction just like a stage actor. You’ll learn how to involve your audience in your performance. Actors are the best storytellers in the world and we’ll show you how it is done. Soon you will be giving spellbinding performances weaving your stories that captivate, motivate and influence your audience.
Once you have mastered this technique you can apply it to every story you write or develop. You’ll be more than a storyteller, you’ll be a Storybuilder. With this skill people will seek you out.
